Paulding Cops, Fire Seek Donations For South Georgia Storm Victims

The goods will go to people hurt by tornadoes and other storms that ripped through southwest Georgia last weekend.

DALLAS, GA — Paulding County's law enforcement and emergency rescue communities are teaming up to collect donations for south Georgia victims of last weekend's tornadoes.

Sheriff Gary Gulledge has reached out to sheriff's in the impacted areas of southwest Georgia to see what their needs are.

Many of the sheriff's said they've been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support they've received from across the state. But needs still remain.

President Donald Trump has declared a major disaster area in parts of southwest Georgia after tornadoes and other storms last weekend that killed 16 people and injured dozens of others.

The declaration orders federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in Berrien, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Turner and Wilcox counties.

Specifically, Paulding County's teams will be collecting goods for people hurt by the storm's in Dougherty County and the city of Albany.

Gulledge said the idea to help tornado victims started with the youth who are involved in the Paulding County Explorer Post 110.

The sheriff's office and Paulding County Fire Department also are taking part in the drive.

They are asking for donations of the following items:

  • Bottled Water
  • Gatorade/Powerade
  • Diapers/Wipes
  • Canned Food
  • Non-Perishable Dry Food Items
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Paper Products (Papers Towels, Toilet Paper, etc.)

Donations can be dropped off at any fire station in Paulding County, or at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. They're hoping to have all donations by Thursday February 2. because the delivery to Dougherty County is planned for Saturday February 4.
