Paulding County Detectives, GBI Investigating Skeletal Remains

The remains were found in a wooded area near Mt. Olivet Road in rural Paulding County. Investigators are looking into missing people cases.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA – Skeletal remains have been found at a rural Paulding County location off Mt. Olivet Road and officials are working to determine the identity of the remains that were found, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations after the remains were found at 6 p.m on Sept. 22 in the Mt. Olivet area of Paulding County. Detectives and GBI agents are working on leads and comparing local missing persons cases along with those from surrounding areas, officials said.

The skeletal remains were transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office. Both the GBI’s Medical Examiner and Forensic Anthropologists will examine the remains in an attempt to identify the person, the sheriff’s office said.
