Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of 'FedEx Text Scam'
The text message, which isn't really from FedEx, may appear legit because it uses the recipient's real name.
PAULDING COUNTY, GA—The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be careful if they happen to receive a text message that claims to be from FedEx.
According to the sheriff's office, some people around the country have received text messages that show a supposed tracking code and link to "set delivery preferences." The text message may appear legit because it uses the recipient's real name. However, it's not.
According to HowToGeek.com, after clicking on the link in the text message, a person is taken to a fake Amazon listing. There they are asked to take a customer satisfaction survey. As a "thank you" for answering a few questions, people can claim an “expensive” product as a reward. However, they have to provide your personal information and a credit card number.
