Paulding Deputy Accused Of Use Of Force During Arrest Fired
Deputy Michael McMaster was accused of using force to arrest 30-year-old Tyler Lee Canaris.
DALLAS, GA —A Paulding County deputy accused of using excessive force against a suspect in March 2022 was fired Monday for policy violations, authorities told Patch Thursday.
According to a statement previously released by Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge, on March 4, Deputy Michael McMaster was accused of using force to arrest 30-year-old Tyler Lee Canaris. Authorities told Patch the termination stems from the incident with Canaris.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is overseeing the case, and Canaris is suing the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.
