Paulding Receives Cash To Promote Healthy Living

The grant came from the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.

DALLAS, GA — Paulding County has gotten a grant from a statewide group for working to keep its employees, and citizens, healthy.

The grant, from the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), is based on a commitment to employee health by the county, as well as the county's working with other organizations and groups engaged in promoting healthy lifestyles.

"A successful wellness program is designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, which works to control healthcare costs and contribute to a happier, more productive workforce," said Michael Mulcare, a Douglas County commissioners and president of the ACCG board that awarded the grant.

Awarded to counties already working toward a healthier community, the grants are designed to promote worksite programs for county employees and their families.

As part of the grant process, the county names a "Health Promotion Champion" who attends training and devises a workplace health action plan.

A free, confidential health screening for employees is also part of the grant.
