Paulding Spared Major Damage in Wednesday Storms

There was flooding in Dallas and some downed trees, but no reported injuries due to the persistent storm fronts.

DALLAS, GA — Paulding County bore the brunt of the waves of thunderstorms that hit metro Atlanta on Wednesday, but escaped with no major damage, emergency officials say.

"We were very fortunate yesterday," said Stephen Dooley, the county emergency management coordinator.

Dooley said there was some minor street flooding in Dallas and reports of trees downed on Lakeside Trace, Stonewood Creek Drive and Frey Road.

No significant damage was reported and there were no weather-related injuries, according to Dooley.

Wednesday's morning-to-night storm fronts marked the second day of severe weather this week in Paulding County.

On Monday, unsubstantiated reports began circulating online that two tornadoes had touched down in Paulding County. Emergency officials investigated the reports and found them to be untrue, speculating that they had been called in as a prank.
