Woman Severely Attacked, Beaten on Silver Comet Trail
She was walking on the trail Tuesday evening.
A woman was attacked and severely injured near the Silver Comet Trail Tuesday, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said.
The office reported on Facebook that a 42-year-old woman was seriously injured and “going in and out of consciousness” when a bicyclist found her around 6:42 p.m. along the trail and called 911. She was airlifted to Kennestone Hospital. Her condition was not released.
The sheriff’s office said the crime scene was considered to be from the bridge over Academy Drive/Vernot Aiken Road and stretching into an adjacent wooded area.

The agency said the woman was “severely beaten about the head and face and that she was going in and out of consciousness during the attack.” There were no signs of a sexual assault.
Detectives believed the woman was dragged into the woods, but was able to pull herself out to where she was found.

“Since the attack was so violent and her injuries were so severe, the victim could only indicate that a white male suspect with dark hair attacked her,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. “She further explained that she was walking eastbound [toward Hiram] when she was attacked.”
