Here are the top five stories in Dallas-Hiram today:

  1. The New Georgia Public Library invites area teens to join the Retro Readers meeting today (Monday, Jun. 13) at 5:00 p.m. The Retro Readers book club focuses on "fun 'classics' that every teen should read," according to the library's Facebook post. Attendees can also use the time to chip away at assigned summer reading. Retro Readers meetings take place at the library every third Monday. (New Georgia Public Library via Facebook)
  2. The Hiram Rosenwald School Museum will host its inaugural Juneteenth Festival next weekend. Head over to Greys Mill Park on Sunday, Jun. 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a lively parade, as well as food, games, arts and crafts, and shopping. Event proceeds will go toward preserving the Hiram Rosenwald School Museum. (Hiram Rosenwald School Museum)
  3. Dallas' own Come As You Are Reconciliation Ministries (CAYA) is seeking volunteers and donors for its Summer Lunch Program. CAYA has supplied over 3,000 meals for children in need throughout the community, but is reportedly experiencing "way below normal" levels of food donations.
