Here are the top five stories in Dallas and Hiram today:

  1. Paulding County is now in a state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian. It went into effect this Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency for all of the state's counties. Georgia's State Operations Center has been activated to respond to Hurricane Ian. The tropical storm is expected to leave Georgia on Sunday. (WSBTV)
  2. Local businesses are a cornerstone of our community.   3. The next Hiram City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4. The meeting will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hiram Municipal Annex. The agenda for the meeting has not been published, yet. (City of Hiram)
  4. Dallas' next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11. The meeting will start at 5:15 p.m. after the 4:00 p.m. work session. The agenda for the meeting will be posted at this link closer to the date. (City of Dallas)
  5. Dallas' Chili Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12. The chili tastings will start at 2:00 p.m. The event has strict rules and regulations for contestants. Booths must be set up by 10:00 a.m. and vehicles must be removed from the area. Each chili must be cooked on the premises. Preparation is allowed off-site. A minimum of three gallons must be cooked. Judging will start at 5:00 p.m. (City of Dallas)

  • Hiram High School has been able to identify the source of the copycat threat message posted on social media Monday night.
