Triple Shooting Turns Deadly In Paulding County: Deputies

A Paulding County man is behind bars after deputies say he shot his wife, stepson and his stepson's girlfriend. His stepson has since died.

DALLA, GA—A Paulding County man is behind bars after deputies say he shot his wife, stepson and his stepson's girlfriend. The stepson ultimately succumbed to his injuries, according to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday around 5:45 p.m., deputies responded to a call in reference to a domestic dispute with shots fired at 25 Wesleyan Way, which is in the Ivey Meadows subdivision.

When deputies arrived on scene, they say they found 23-year-old Ebony Janel Copeland, 42-year-old Takiyah Weems and 21 year-old Amauri Ali Beavers suffering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies say they quickly detained the suspected shooter, Earl Curtis Weems, 77, and began providing first aid to the three victims.

According to deputies, Earl and Takiyah Weems are married and Amauri Beavers was the adult son of Takiyah Weems. Ebony Copeland is the girlfriend of Amauri Beavers.

Earl Weems was subsequently arrested and initially charged with aggravated assault. Detectives expect to file more charges in the coming days.

The suspected shooter's stepson, Amauri Beavers, passed away from his injuries at the hospital on Feb. 11.

Ebony Copeland and Takiyah Weems were treated and released from the hospital later that day, deputies said.

Detectives say they continue to investigate the root cause of the incident but know that it was domestic related in nature.

Earl Weems is currently being held in the Paulding County jail with no bond. Detectives are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed this incident to call 770-443-3015 with any additional information.
