Veteran Paulding County Deputy Retires
Dep. Jerry Coalson worked for United Parcel Service before beginning a career with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

DALLAS, GA — Dep. Jerry Coalson, a Paulding County Sheriff's Office deputy who worked at the county courthouse, has retired.
A reception was held to honor Coalson on Friday at the courthouse. Coalson began his law-enforcement career with the sheriff's office in 2003. Before that, he had worked for United Parcel Service for 24 years.
Coalson began his work with the sheriff's office at the courthouse and remained there throughout the duration of his service. Shortly after his work as a deputy began, he went through 10 weeks of basic mandate training to become a Georgia P.O.S.T certified peace officer.

"Deputy Coalson worked daily at the Paulding County Courthouse helping to ensure the safety of our citizens, attorneys, and judges," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "His hard work ethic and sense of humor will be sorely missed by his co-workers and the citizens he encountered every day."
During his tenure, Coalson worked on the transition from Paulding County's old courthouse to the new one.
