Voters To Choose Paulding Commission Chair, School Board Member on Tuesday

DALLAS, GA — Paulding County voters will decide on a county commission chairman and an at-large school board member Tuesday during primary runoff elections.
Polls will be open to voters until 7 p.m. Both elections are countywide.

In the commission chairman's race neither of two former commissioners -- David Carmichael and Roger Leggett -- managed to get the 50 percent of the vote needed in the Republican primary to avoid a runoff under Georgia law.
They are competing to succeed Chairman David Austin, who did not seek re-election.

No Democrats qualified for the race, leaving Tuesday's winner unopposed in the November general election.
In the school board race, Jeff Fuller, a finance manager, faces off with incumbent Joe Watson, Jr., who is retired.
To be eligible to vote in the runoff, voters must have voted either a Republican or nonpartison ballot in the primaries or not have participated in the primaries at all.
