Dalton-Whitfield Land Bank Authority donates property for use as new 'pocket neighborhood' (daltoncitizen.com) — Dalton's land bank has donated a 1.3‑acre parcel at Underwood Street and Dantzler Avenue for a new "pocket neighborhood" of cottage-style homes, aiming to expand affordable housing options in town. Working with local and Atlanta nonprofits, officials hope this pilot project showcases creative infill development that reduces infrastructure costs and spurs similar projects across Dalton.

UPDATE: 4 students were on board Whitfield County Schools bus during crash this morning (local3news.com) — Riverbend Road in Dalton has reopened after a Friday morning crash in which a pickup truck, allegedly passing in a no‑passing zone, struck multiple vehicles including a Whitfield County Schools bus. Four students were on board; one reported a headache and was checked by paramedics, while another bus took the remaining students safely to school as the truck's driver faces DUI and reckless driving charges.

From Southeast Whitfield hosting Coahulla Creek to Northwest Whitfield and North Murray in action, the evening offers plenty of options for local spectators before region play heats up.
   

4. CARE California Shows Gains in Carpet Reuse (bsmmag.com) — Based in Dalton, the Carpet America Recovery Effort reports continued gains in recycling and reusing post-consumer carpet through California's stewardship program, diverting billions of pounds from landfills nationwide. The Dalton-headquartered nonprofit will host a public workshop later this month to walk through its 2025 annual report and outline how it's building a stronger circular economy for carpet.
