📰 News we're reading

• Gloves stored with raw meat, spilled milk on onions, 20 lbs of fried chicken discarded (local3news.com) — Health inspectors recently rated several Whitfield County restaurants, with Dalton spots like The Lofi Coffee Bar, Season's Hibachi & Grill, Mi Cafecito, and others earning scores ranging from the low 80s to perfect 100s. The report also details serious violations at some nearby Tennessee Valley eateries, giving Dalton diners a clear picture of where food safety is being closely followed—and where it fell short.

• USDA to target raccoon rabies in Northwest GA with upcoming bait drop (local3news.com) — Helicopters will begin dropping oral rabies vaccine baits over Dalton and nearby communities on October 7 as part of a major USDA effort to control raccoon rabies. Low-flying aircraft will distribute more than 500,000 baits across northwest Georgia counties, including Whitfield, and residents are urged not to touch the fish-scented packets or remove them from pets' mouths.
