3 Arrested, Charged in Robberies at Douglas County Gas Station

Police say they robbed the store at gunpoint, then assaulted a woman in the parking lot and stole her iPhone and purse.

Police have arrested and charged three people in connection with an armed robbery incident last week at a Douglas County convenience store.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a new release that Antonio Smith,18, Fanley Michael Voltarie, 18, and Shannon Williams, 16, were all arrested for their involvement in robbing the Shell gas station on South Sweetwater Road in Lithia Springs and then punching a woman in the parking lot and stealing her iPhone and purse. Williams has been charged as an adult, the agency said.

The three suspects allegedly entered the store around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and stole cash and cigarettes at gunpoint.

“The subjects exited the store and approached a vehicle in the parking lot occupied by a female subject,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “One of the male subjects [believed to be the juvenile suspect Shannon Williams] opened the passenger door on the vehicle and punched the female victim in her face. The suspect then took the victim’s purse and iPhone.”

A lookout and description of the suspects was sent out and they were located via the stolen iPhone in the area of 340 Six Flags Road in nearby Austell. Cobb County Police stopped the suspects at a QuikTrip store on Six Flags Road based on the information.

At the time of the vehicle stop the driver of the vehicle Michael Voltaire had one of the victim’s driver’s licenses in his hand. Antonio Smith located in the passenger seat of the vehicle had several credit cards in the name of one of the victims on his person. Shannon Williams located in the back seat had one of the victim’s iPhone on his person.

All three were charged with armed robbery-commercial, armed robbery-person to person and aggravated assault.

Police are looking into whether the suspects are wanted for other crimes.
