City Of Douglasville Receives Safety Grant Worth $20K

Douglasville received the Local Government Risk Management Services (LGRMS) Safety & Liability Grant worth $20,000 at a recent City Council meeting. Part of the funding had already been received in 2019, so this final check completed the grant.

The check was presented by Kay Love of the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) to the Mayor and Council. The purpose of the grant is to assist local governments in reducing risks and help curb employee and public injuries.

“Promoting safety for city staff is of the highest concern,” Mayor Rochelle Robinson explained. “This empowers our staff to ensure that our community is safe. I believe that is the most important job we have—to ensure our community is a safe one.”

Each year, the city must apply for the grant and explain how the funds will be spent. “Our grant application, this year, included requests for upgrades to our Automated External Defibrillators (AED), two additional AEDs, non-slip mats, reflective signs near our refuse trucks, and additional ergonomic devices for staff,” Human Resources Director, Teaa Allston-Bing, reported.

The City of Douglasville has had much success in loss control, employee health, and maintaining a safe environment for employees and the public in recent years.
