Douglas County Statement on Winter Storm

County schools, offices, municipal court are closed Wednesday; please do not travel unless you have to.

The Douglas County Courthouse and all County offices will be closed Wednesday, February 25th, due to the forecasted inclement weather.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Douglas County Fire/EMS, E911, Emergency Management, DOT and Communications will be active during the weather event to serve the public.

Douglas County Rideshare vans will not operate Wednesday - Friday.

All schools in the Douglas County School System will be closed Wednesday.

The City of Douglasville Municipal Court will be closed on Wednesday, and all cases will be rescheduled.

Decisions concerning Thursday closings will be made by the various entities during the day on Wednesday based on conditions.

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has declared a State of Emergency for the counties included in the Winter Storm Warning beginning at 12 noon Wednesday. Douglas County is one of the counties in the Warning area.

There is a possibility of precipitation from rain to snow for Wednesday, depending on the temperature of the air and the ground. Snow amounts could be significant if the temperatures remain cold.

Please do not travel Wednesday unless you absolutely have to. The first precipitation is predicted to reach Douglas County about mid-morning and only get worse from then on.

Please check on your neighbors, particularly those who are elderly and live alone, to ensure they know of the incoming weather and have what they need.

The weather is expected to move out of west Georgia early Thursday morning but road conditions may be poor depending on the type and volume of precipitation received.
