Officer Accused Of Shooting At Driver Charged In Douglasville

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the officer was in uniform at the time of the Interstate 20 shooting.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA —A uniformed public safety officer for Grady Hospital is facing charges after authorities say he shot at a driver on Interstate 20 westbound on Nov. 20.

Alfred Watkins is charged on suspicion of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm from or on a roadway and reckless conduct, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Authorities said the shooting took place on I-20 between Fairburn and Chapel Hill roads. Watkins and the other driver pulled over, and both are cooperating with authorities, according to the sheriff's office.

Watkins was wearing his Grady public safety uniform at the time of the shooting, authorities said.

There were no injuries or property damage, authorities said.
