Law Enforcement Leading Douglas Toy Drives
Police and sheriff's deputies are helping collect toys for children in need this holiday season.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Law enforcement agencies in Douglas County are pitching in to make sure the area's neediest kids have a happy holiday, too.
Both the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department are involved in toy drives that are either ongoing or coming up soon.
The sheriff's office is urging folks to stop by Fred's Bar-B-Q House on Saturday and drop off a toy at the 2016 Toys For Tots and Bike Ride.

The event will feature a bike ride, a NASCAR simulator and cars, tanks, a helicopter and an appearance by Santa.

It will be broadcast on WSB AM 750 and is being held in memory of the station's "Captain" Herb Emory, who passed away in 2014.

Fred's is located at 541 Thornton Rd. in Lithia Springs.
Meanwhile, the Douglasville Police Department is hosting an "Operation Christmas" donation box in the lobby of police headquarters.
In its first year last year, Operation Christmas Douglas County served 10,668 children at 54 venues.
They're asking for new, unwrapped gifts, which will go to kids on free and reduced lunch, WIC recipients, children identified as homeless, those in Head Start or who have been placed in group homes.
Police headquarters is at 2083 Fairburn Rd. in Douglasville.
