In Memory: James Everett Moon, Jr., 71, of Douglasville

Mr. Moon retired from Lockheed following over 40 years working as a machinist; he also a U.S. Army and Vietnam War veteran.

Mr. James Everett Moon, Jr., age 71, of Douglasville, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 following an extended illness. He was born on November 24, 1943, in Nicholson, Georgia, the son of the late James Ezra Moon and the late Tavia Sorrow Moon. Mr. Moon retired from Lockheed following over forty years working as a machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served our country during the Vietnam era. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He patterned his life after his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and gave God the glory for everything in his life. Mr. Moon was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Servitor Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a baby brother.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eleanor Taylor Moon of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sherri Moon of Cumming, Georgia, and Chris and Shannon Moon of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Leverne and Ken Watkins of Stockbridge, Georgia; brother, Bill Moon of Elberton, Georgia; grandchildren: Victoria Moon, Will Moon, Emilie Moon, Shelby Moon, and Lilli Moon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. at Beulah Baptist Church on Sunday, February 1, 2015 with Pastor Wayne Bray, Reverend Danny Watters, and Reverend P.J. Williams officiating. The casket will be placed in the church at 2:00 P.M. Will Moon, Glenn Watkins, Jeff Watkins, Michael Long, Matthew Long, and Nathan Taylor will serve as Pallbearers. Members of the Servitor Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Interment and Military Honors will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 3:00-9:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 4031 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
