A Lithia Springs High School student received the highest honor awarded by the metro area's Boys & Girls Clubs. Kai Hartman has been named the 2017-18 Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. The honor recognizes teens who demonstrate leadership in their schools, clubs and communities.

Two Douglas County schools have been named among the state's top for making progress despite financial hardships among their students. Factory Shoals Elementary and Lithia Springs Elementary were named 2016-17 High Progress Reward Schools by the Georgia Department of Education.
About 500 students from in and around Douglas County competed in a foreign-language contest Saturday at Douglas County High School. The West Metro Foreign Language Forum is an oral language contest that recognized students for language proficiency and encourages students and teachers to continue their pursuit of foreign-language mastery.
Chapel Hill Middle Art Students Display Artwork At High Museum
Thirteen young creative talents at Chapel Hill Middle School currently have their work on display at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The 7th and 8th grade advanced art students will have their masterpieces displayed in the Student Pop Up Show during the month of October. The engaging art exhibit allows students from across the metro Atlanta area the opportunity to showcase their work in a museum setting.
Douglas County Congratulates Spelling Bee Participants
The Douglas County Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Douglas County Association of Educators (DCAE), took place on February 2, 2017, at the Douglas County Courthouse. Congratulations to all contestants and especially to the following winners!
