Serial Bank Robber Strikes in Johns Creek: FBI

The suspect, also accused of committing several robberies in Cobb, placed a bag on the counter, brandished a firearm and demanded money.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The FBI is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to help catch a serial bank robber whose crimes have now reached Johns Creek, the agency said.

This latest incident was reported around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 when a suspect walked into Renasant Bank at 11655 Medlock Bridge Road in Johns Creek and announced the robbery to a teller.

During the incident, the suspect allegedly pulled out a black handgun from a dark-colored briefcase and pointed the firearm directly at the bank employee. He was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the bank without incident, the FBI notes.

Before branching out to north Fulton County, the suspect allegedly targeted several banks in Cobb County.

The spree began Feb. 4 when a male suspect entered Fifth Third Bank located at 4209 Roswell Road in Marietta. The man, the FBI notes, approached a teller station, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money "as he put a briefcase on top of the counter."

The teller complied with the robber’s demands and placed the money inside of the briefcase.

"The robber stated that he owed some money to someone in Nashville," the FBI said. "He stated he was sorry and fled the bank."

The suspect, described as a white male in his late 40's or early 50's, was wearing brown leather gloves, a baseball cap, jacket and blue jeans, the federal agency said.

The same man, the FBI states, was observed at the same bank a day before the robbery. On that day, the suspect was wearing brown leather gloves, a long bubble trench coat, a baseball cap and holding a black canvass briefcase.

At around 11:52 a.m. April 1, a suspect walked into Regions Bank at 2486 Roswell Road in Marietta, brandished the semi-automatic handgun while announcing the robbery to a teller.

The robber opened a black messenger bag, and the teller complied with his demands by placing the money into the bag. In this instance, the suspect was described as a white man between 6 feet to 6'2'' tall and possibly between 30 and 40 years of age. His attire included a Nike cap, a collared shirt, black jacket and blue jeans.

Around 2:08 p.m. May 25, a white male entered BB&T at 4370 Roswell Road in Marietta and once again announced a robbery to the teller while displaying a handgun.

The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money and left the location without further incident. The FBI said the suspect was once again described as being about 6 feet tall and between 40 and 50 years old.

This time, the man was sporting a beard, and was wearing a short-sleeved collared shirt, black sunglasses and a white baseball hat.

On July 13 at around 11:33 a.m., the alleged bank robber walked into PNC Bank at 1111 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta and after waiting in line behind another patron, he cut in front of another customer, approached the teller and announced the robbery.

The suspect allegedly struck again around 12:47 p.m. Aug. 22 at Fidelity Bank at 2401 Windy Ridge Parkway in Vinings. The robber pulled out a black handgun from his briefcase, pointed it at the teller and announced the robbery. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect left without any additional incidents.

Investigators say the man was wearing a collared golf shirt, khaki pants, tan ball cap and dark sunglasses.

FBI officials note the suspect has been seen pointing the firearm directly at the tellers in several incidents. With that in mind, law enforcement officers consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous.
