UPDATE: Off-Duty Atlanta Policeman Shoots Car Theft Suspects in Buckhead
The suspects were taken into custody after they drove their stolen truck into a garage door at an apartment complex. Both were wounded.

UPDATE: Atlanta police have released the following statement regarding the shooting in Buckhead on Thursday afternoon:
On 5/7/2015 at approximately 5:25 p.m. an APD officer was working an off-duty job directing traffic at the intersection of Lenox Rd and Piedmont Rd. Officers at Lenox Mall had received information from security personnel in reference to individuals attempting to break-into cars in the parking lot and proceeded by providing a lookout of the vehicle and males who had broken into a car at the mall. The off-duty APD officer directing traffic, observed the vehicle matching the description approaching the intersection. The driver of the vehicle became aware of the officers attempting to stop the vehicle and subsequently drove the vehicle in the direction of the officer directing traffic, at which time the officer directing traffic at the intersection fired his weapon at least three times. The vehicle left the scene, but struck a garage door in the rear of an apartment complex at 3432 Piedmont Rd. Two males ran from the vehicle, but were apprehended. Both males appeared to have been shot. They were taken to Grady for treatment. The vehicle in which the suspects were driving had been stolen from downtown Atlanta earlier today. Investigators arrived on scene and the investigation is on-going at this time.
