Autopsy: Woman, 33, Drowned in Allatoona Lake

The manner of death for Sheila Ann Carlotta, 33 of Marietta was also classified as "accidental."

An autopsy conducted on the Marietta woman whose body was found in Allatoona Lake late Sunday morning has determined she died as a result of drowning.

Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said the autopsy performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab also indicated the manner of death for Sheila Ann Carlotta, 33, to be “accidental.”

Deputies with the sheriff’s office were dispatched to the Kellogg Creek Day Use area along Kellogg Creek Road in southwest Cherokee County just after 11:30 a.m. Aug. 31. A boater reported seeing a body floating in the lake, which was determined to be an adult woman with red hair.

It was determined the victim was in the water for less than 24 hours. Additionally, her body was located near the beach area in about three feet of water and roughly 20 feet from shore.
