Ellwood Maintains Historic Integrity

Ellwood has undergone massive renovation since Lynn and Hans Rechsteiner purchased it in 1992.

Ellwood, located at 76 McDonald St., is a Victorian, New England style home. It was built after the Civil War by John R. Winters, who purchased the lot in 1867. It was originally a one-story brick home.

Lynn and Hans Rechsteiner bought Ellwood in 1992 and extensively renovated the property, saving it from demolition.

"I operated as contractor," Lynn said. "Our foremost goal was to maintain the original facade and the historic integrity of the home."
