
The Marietta Police Department will offer free nine week program to give citizens the chance to experience what it's like to be a police officer when it hosts its Citizens' Police Academy this spring.
Participants will learn about department's operations, see demonstrations, participate in hands-on training given by department's officers and learn challenges police officers face on streets through role-playing scenarios and ride-alongs with officers during patrol shift.
Topics includes crime analysis, narcotics, special weapons and tactics (SWAT), crime interdiction unit, investigative services, traffic enforcement, community response unit and crime scene processing.

The academy: open to public pending background check. Applications are available at front desk of Marietta Police Department must be submitted by March 1
