Bill Clinton Stops At Manuel's
The former president was in Atlanta on Wednesday raising money for his wife's presidential campaign.
ATLANTA, GA β Former president Bill Clintonwas in Atlanta on Wednesday, attending a fundraiser for his wife's presidential campaign, when he made a stop at a local institution.
Before the fundraiser, Clinton stopped by the newly renovated and reopened Manuel's Tavern, one of Atlanta's most iconic institutions.
Clinton was the guest at the home of Darrell and Tara Mays, a fundraiser that costed $33,400 to attend a reception with Clinton and $10,000 for a picture with him, according to the event's invitation.

Manuelβs Tavern opened in 1956 after DeKalb Countyβs Manuel Maloof purchased Harryβs Delicatessen at the corner of North and North Highland Avenues. Maloof, now referred to as the godfather of Georgia politics, later became CEO of DeKalb County. He died in 2004.
Green Street Properties is Manuelβs Tavern new owner, but the Maloof family will continue to operate the establishment. Green Street upgraded its HVAC system and refurbishing other parts of the business.

An AJC poll released earlier this month shows Hillary Clinton leading Trump in Georgia in this year's race to the White House. The poll showed Clinton with 44 percent of the vote, compared to Trump's 40 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson cracked double digits with 11 percent, while the Green Party's Jill Stein had 2 percent.
The last AJC poll, commissioned in May, had Trump leading Clinton, 45 percent to 41 percent.
President Barack Obama was in Atlanta earlier this month,raising money for Clinton.
Trump himself held a fundraiser in Atlanta on June 15 at the home of Charlie Loudermilk, who founded Aaron Rents in 1955 and built the now-publicly traded company into a leader in the rent-to-own furniture industry.
While Georgia has consistently voted Republican in recent White House elections, Clinton and Democrats insist the Peach State is in play in 2016.
