• Powder Springs moves forward with plan to address blocked railroad crossings (wsbradio.com) — Powder Springs is moving ahead with a federally funded plan to tackle long-blocked railroad crossings and improve safety around town. City officials have already held an open house and launched a second survey, and they expect to send a final set of recommendations to federal regulators later this month or in September. 
• Man on scooter hit by 2 cars, suffers life-threatening injuries, Cobb County police say (atlantanewsfirst.com) — A man riding a scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by two cars late Monday night on Powder Springs Road near Marietta. Cobb County police say he was crossing outside the crosswalk when a northbound car struck him, throwing him into a southbound lane where a second car hit him; both drivers stayed on scene as the investigation continues.
