BOC's Final Meeting on Form-Based Code and SPLOST forum on Wed.

- On Tuesday, the Cobb Board of Commissionersβ worksession will be held at 9 a.m. and the regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Cobb Commissioners meeting room at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. This is the final hearing about the nearly 70 code amendments, including the new form-based code for Mabletonβs redevelopment district.Β For more information about this district or code, click Β
- Sports from Patch Sports Editor, Rory Sharrock: It was a down year for basketball.Β The boys went 1-22 and the girls finished 6-20.Β Both squads lost in the first round of the Region 4-AAAAA Tournament.Β Both basketball teams at lost in the first round of the Region 4-AAAAA Tournament versus the same team, McEachern.Β The boys went 14-11 and girls, 9-15.Β
- Early voting to decide a possible extension of Cobb's special one-cent sales tax, SPLOST, begins today at the Cobb election office main branch at 736 Whitlock Ave. in Marietta. Early voting is in done in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday until March 11. Cobb residents interested in the proposed SPLOST extension can hear from both sides at a forum Wednesday. Arguments for passage of the SPLOST will be presented by Rose Wing of Citizens for Cobbβs Future, which supports the extension. Lance Lamberton, president of the Cobb County Taxpayers Association, will give the opposing view. The forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Marietta-Cobb, will begin at 7 p.m. in the government complex at 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. The forum will also be broadcast on the countyβs cable Channel 23.
