Mableton Elementary Holds Community Meeting Today About New School
Mableton Elementary is holding a community meeting at 5 p.m. to discuss the plans for its new school.
This afternoon at 5 p.m., a community meeting will be held Mableton Elementary, the oldest school in Mableton, to discuss plans and progress on its new elementary school building.
County representatives and architects will be present to discuss plans for the new school.
The school has been around for about 150 years, and the current building was built in three phases during the 1950s. Now, with the help of revenue generated by the 2009 SPLOST (Special Local Sales Tax), Mableton Elementary is getting a complete upgrade.

The design was unveiled in September and includes two stories and a courtyard. The new school may have a partnership with the YMCA and have an amphitheater and tree house.
The new school will mean a student population double what it currently has, bringing the total number of students to approximately 900.
