Not Gonna Rain on Mableton Elementary's Parade

Well, there wasn't a parade at Mableton Elementary's annual Spring Fling, but there was pretty much everything else. The community came out and had a great time just before Friday's storm.

Right before Friday's storm moved into the South Cobb area, students, parents and community members were all smiles as they munched on cotton candy, jumped in bounce houses and painted faces at Mableton Elementary's annual Spring Fling.

About 300 people showed up for the school's event, which had inflatables, food, a cake walk, face painting, nail-painting, toss games, live DJs, crafts and a silent auction.

The school uses the event as a fundraiser. Tickets are bought at the entrance and used for pizza, drinks and other goodies.

Members of the Mableton PTA and First Baptist Church of Mableton were on hand to help out in every way possible, including helping attendees to shelter out of the rain.

Principal Kym Eisgruber used a bullhorn to connect parents and students so that they could return safely before the weather worsened.

Although the event was cut short because of the weather, the students still had a great time and cannot wait until next year's event.
