Qualifying Period Now Open for City of Austell
Starting today until Wednesday, any Austell resident seeking to fill the open Mayor or Ward 2, Ward 4 and At-Large Post 2 council positions, may do so at Office of City Clerk located at 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 137, Austell, Georgia 30106. Qualifying times are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The qualifying fee for mayor is $900, and for city council members is $360.
The general election for the four open seats will be held on Nov. 8.

The City of Austell will also have its pre-agenda meeting today at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

MBE Turns One Year Old
The Mableton Business Exchange is one year old! To celebrate, an after-hours event will be held at the end of the month at Mexico Lindo. South Cobb Patch will release more details as they become available. MBEβs regular luncheon will be held today at 11:45 at Mexico Lindo.

If you missed our South Cobb vs. Marietta game coverage, the final score was 33-26, with South Cobb taking the lead after the two tied at 26-26 at the start of the fourth quarter. For Whitefield Academy started the season right with a 38-13 win against Walker. Pebblebrook was defeated in Valdosta on Friday by the Lowndes Vikings. The final score was 45-14.
Β Vote for a South Cobb Park
Thereβs still time to vote a South Cobb park as one of the best in America. The National Park Foundation, in partnership with Coca-Cola, America's State Parks and the National Recreation and Park Association, launched the second annual "America Is Your Park" campaign and the three parks that receive the most votes byΒ Sept. 6Β will be awarded recreation grants, made possible by the Coca-Cola "Live Positively" initiative, in the following amounts:
- First Place - $100,000
- Second Place - $50,000
- Third Place - $25,000
There are several ways people can vote between now and September 6th:
- Click on their favorite park atΒ LivePositvely.comΒ and vote
- Upload photos of themselves in their favorite park toΒ LivePositvely.com
- Starting August 10th, they can upload video of themselves in their favorite park toΒ LivePositvely.com
- Starting July 11th, people also can vote by checking into a park using Facebook Places
There is no limit on the amount of times you can vote, so be sure to spread the word and get your votes in today.
