Lady Eagles take control in second half; win 52-46 on "Senior Night"
The South Cobb Lady Eagles get it done on "Senior Night" as they take down the Pebblebrook Lady Falcons 52-46.
South Cobb had a front-court advantage against Pebblebrook and went to junior center Eniya Edwards early in the ball game to jump start their offense. Solid perimeter play from sophomore small forward, Jordan Howell, and sophomore power forward, Tiuana Travers, kept the game close after one quarter of play with the Lady Falcons trailing 13-10.
Turnovers by both squads kept this game close in the second quarter. The Lady Eagles struggled on offense, but made up for it by getting to and producing points at the free throw line. Pebblebrook freshman point guard, Whitney Young, with the absence of junior point guard, Kelsey Walthal, had a strong showing in the quarter facilitating the offense, as the Lady Falcons did a better job of executing in the half-court.

The shot of the first half belonged to South Cobb's junior small forward, Jasmine Bennett, who hit a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to give South Cobb a 28-24 lead at halftime.
In the second half, senior point guard, Brittany Nash, began to assert herself in the ball game by forcing the issue on offense and getting to the free throw line early in the quarter. Travers and Young continued to provide solid play for the Lady Falcons in the third quarter. South Cobb's edge in the paint gave them a narrow lead of 37-32 going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Eagles took their cue from Nash and picked up their defensive intensity in the fourth quarter, as they began to wear down Pebblebrook. The Lady Falcons cooled down midway through the quarter, and were unable to keep up with South Cobb. The Lady Eagles were able to find a nice balance between Edwards and Nash, who scored 13 point apiece, as South Cobb pulled away from Pebblebrook to win their last home game of the season.
Travers scored 13 points and Young added 10 points for the Lady Falcons, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lady Eagles on "Senior Night."
With a win in Tuesday night's ball game, South Cobb goes to 3-9 in region 4-5A and 4-13 overall. Pebblebrook's loss puts them at 6-15 and 2-9 in the region. Both teams wrap-up their regular season this week, and look to end the season on a positive note heading into next week's region tournament.
