Stockbridge mayor pushing back against misspending taxpayer dollars, sexual misconduct allegations (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Stockbridge’s youngest-ever mayor, Jayden Williams, is challenging the city council’s move to strip him of administrative powers amid questions over spending and separate sexual misconduct allegations. A Superior Court hearing on August 17 will decide whether the council acted lawfully, while both Williams and a key councilmember dispute whether behind-the-scenes messages were threats or simple warnings.
   

2. Stockbridge to name ballroom in honor of Cie Cie McGhee (henryherald.com) — Stockbridge city leaders are set to name a local ballroom in honor of community figure Cie Cie McGhee, recognizing her impact on the city. While much of the article text is garbled, it’s clear the decision celebrates her contributions and will give residents a new, named gathering space in town.

How federal agents uncovered a massive fentanyl stash in Henry County (fox5atlanta.com) — Federal agents recently searched a Stockbridge home, seizing a handgun inside and more than two pounds of fentanyl hidden in nearby woods, and arresting a 39-year-old man now held by U.S. Marshals. Prosecutors say he faces federal drug and firearm charges, while stressing he remains presumed innocent and that the bust came through close federal–local cooperation in Henry County.

Just one in three Americans back Iran war, most unsure of Trump's goals, poll finds (toptech.news) — A Stockbridge retiree is among Americans questioning why the U.S. is at war with Iran, as new polling shows only about one in three support the conflict. The nationwide survey also finds many, including some Republicans, feel President Trump has not clearly explained his goals, while rising gas prices and election-year politics add to public unease.
