• Council tables communications contract (times-georgian.com) — Villa Rica's City Council has delayed a proposed $427,000 strategic communications contract after resident pushback, shifting the money into a contingency fund while still adopting a $60.5 million 2027 budget and a slightly higher millage rate. Councilmembers also tabled a school-zone speed camera deal, approved traffic measures, and set upcoming October meeting dates that will shape how these issues move forward. 
• Update: Labor Day travel fatalities on Georgia roads significantly down over 2025 (monroelocal.org) — Georgia's 2026 Labor Day travel period saw five traffic fatalities statewide, down sharply from 10 the previous year, including a Carroll County crash handled by Georgia State Patrol Post 4 in Villa Rica. Officials credit stepped-up patrols and continue urging drivers to slow down, buckle up, avoid distractions, and plan ahead as heavy holiday traffic remains a safety concern.
