Cubs Get Even in Cleveland, Beat Indians in Game 2 of World Series

A stellar outing by Jake Arrieta and an offensive awakening means the Cubs head back to Wrigley Field tied.

CLEVELAND, OH — The Chicago Cubs pulled even with the Cleveland Indians Wednesday night with a 5-1 victory at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The Cubs got an early lead in the first inning, then added one in the third and three in the fifth.

The game's biggest drama came in the bottom of the sixth, when Cubs winning pitcher Jake Arrieta had a no-hitter going. The Indians' Jason Kipnis broke it up with a double, however. Had Arrieta been able to record 11 more outs, he would have been only the second pitcher to ever toss a no-no in the World Series.

Kyle Schwarber, in only his second game back from what was thought to be a season-ending ACL injury, had a pair of hits to help the Cubs stay in front.
