Cubs vs. Hornets' Frank Kaminsky: Who Won Their Twitter Trash Talk Tussle?
Kaminsky, a Lisle native and White Sox fan, started this war of words, but who fired the final shot? Read the exchange and declare a victor.
CHICAGO, IL — To some die-hard fans, it can be annoying to watch people climb aboard the Chicago Cubs bandwagon this postseason, especially when those individuals are celebrities.
So it's hard to become irritated when a pro athlete with no rooting interest in the playoffs starts talking trash about the Cubbies online. In fact, such a display can feel downright refreshing.
That was the case with the small-scale — but ultimately good-natured — social media skirmish between the Cubs' official Twitter account and Charlotte Hornets center and Benet Academy product Frank Kaminsky.
The opening salvo in this war of words came when Kaminsky, an outspoken Chicago White Sox fan, was photographed wearing this provocative little number Monday night before a preseason game between the Hornets and the Bulls at the United Center.

According to Comcast's Chuck Garfien, Kaminsky, who played college ball for the University of Wisconsin, even wore the Steve Bartman jersey while he watched Game 2 of the National League Championship Series from a Wrigley Field rooftop, a fashion choice that didn't endear him to his fellow spectators.

"There is a sense of jealousy," he told Garfien. "I'm a White Sox fan. I don't want to see them [the Cubs] do well."
Response from the Cubs' official Twitter account was swift. And in GIF form:

Kaminsky's support of the White Sox at the expense of their North Side counterparts shouldn't surprise anyone. This is how he described his family's fan devotion to the South Siders in a 2015 ESPN interview:
"We have a family saying: We have two favorite teams in the MLB, the White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs. That gives you an idea of how much we love this team."
