Now in its eighth year, the Bonfield Express 5K is a Downers Grove tradition. Held each Thanksgiving morning, the race treks through the beautiful downtown and side streets of this western suburb on a USTAF certified course. The true charm of this race is that it attracts a wide range of participants from competitive runners to area residents who walk the course to share time with friends and loved ones. Funds generated through the race go to providing scholarships to area high school seniors who exhibit character in their community. To date, more than $150,000 has been distributed to seniors in six area high schools.
