Man Who Fled Traffic Stop Had Gun: Cops
A 19-year-old Evanston man now faces felony charges for allegedly having a loaded handgun.

An Evanston man who ran on foot from a traffic stop in which he was a passenger late Thursday is facing a felony charge after officers determined he had a loaded handgun on him.
Police in Evanston report they made a traffic stop for minor violations around 7:55 p.m. on March 26 at Chicago Avenue and Jonquil Terrace when Rayshawn L. Taylor, 19 - a rear seat passenger - ran from the vehicle.

Officers disregarded the vehicle, which fled northbound on Chicago and apprehended Taylor in the 200 block of Callan Avenue. They found a loaded Bryco 9mm handgun that was allegedly discarded by Taylor while he was running.
Since Taylor had a previous reckless discharge of a firearm charge on his record from 2013. he was charged with unlawful use of weapon by felon, a Class 2 felony.

Police continue to seek the fleeing vehicle, of which the driver has been identified.
