JOLIET, IL — Boston Market has been open on Joliet's West Jefferson Street for decades, but not anymore. Amid the coronavirus, Boston Market has closed its restaurant near Jefferson and Larkin Avenue. A window sign informs patrons, "We're temporarily closed."

The little sign urges people to drive all the way to Bolingbrook where its Boston Market at 285 North Weber Road remains open.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you back soon," the window sign reads.

However, if you visit the Boston Market website, the Joliet restaurant at 1886 W. Jefferson St. has been removed.

The company's website lists 13 remaining Boston Markets in Illinois and none is in Joliet.

It remains to be seen whether Boston Market will in fact reopen its Joliet business on Jefferson Street. Over the past year, three other national restaurant franchises in the same general area of Joliet's west side closed their doors forever.

In March 2019, Joliet's Steak N Shake on Larkin Avenue went out of business and two months later, the Bakers Square restaurant closed about a half-mile up the road from Boston Market.

Both the Bakers Square and Steak N Shake remain empty, a year later. In February, Joliet Patch produced another exclusive, revealing the Arby's on Jefferson Street closed.
