Palatine Dad Surprised With Cubs World Series Tickets in Son's Feel-Good Film

VIDEO: It's no blockbuster, but Justin Escalona's 3-minute movie is a hit with his father, Emmanuel. The 2 attended Game 3 at Wrigley Field.

PALATINE, IL — Justin Escalona and his father, Emmanuel, are devoted Cubs fans. They've attended at least 100 games to cheer on the North Side boys in blue, including the heartbreaking Bartman game in the 2003 National League Championship Series.

Because the Cubs have been an important part of the Escalonas' father-son connection, Justin, a Palatine High School grad, was determined to find a way for the two to enjoy at least one game of Chicago's World Series run in person. He teamed up with ticket search engine SeatGeek to land two tickets to Game 3 and then documented the experience — from surprising his dad with the tickets late at night last week to rooting for the Cubbies on Friday night at Wrigley Field — in a short, three-minute film on YouTube.

"I absolutely could not miss this," Justin said in his film, which was posted online Saturday.

In his film, Justin captures surprising his dad with the tickets after flying back home to Palatine from the West Coast last week. The footage also shows father and son in the stands during the first World Series game to be played at Wrigley Field since 1945.

"It felt like it was something out of a movie," Justin said. "It felt amazing."
