Rachel Morin Murder: Schools Near Suspect's L.A. Crime Scene Notified By Family's Law Firm
The law firm representing Rachel Morin's family has sent letters to the high schools near the L.A. crime scene linked to a suspected killer.

BEL AIR, MD — The law firm representing Rachel Morin's family has sent letters and reward flyers to the principals of five high schools located near the crime scene in Los Angeles, California, where the Bel Air mother's suspected killer was captured on a doorbell camera in separate assault case.
Morin, 37, was reported missing in early August by her boyfriend, Richard Tobin, when she didn't return from her walk on the popular Bel Air Ma and Pa Trail. DNA evidence from the Morin crime scene matched DNA found at the scene of a March 2023 home invasion and sexual assault of a girl in Los Angeles, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said on Aug. 16.
Doorbell camera video provided by the L.A. Police Department captured a brief clip of that man leaving the scene of the alleged home invasion and assault in California.

"We know the suspect is approximately 20-30 years old and he may have attended high school around the crime scene in Los Angeles. We are hopeful a former teacher, staff or student recognizes the image and can identify the man," attorney Randolph Rice said in a statement. "Any information that could assist in identifying the perpetrator is encouraged and appreciated."
The Rice, Murtha, Psoras law firm sent letters to the following Los Angeles-based high schools:

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office worked with the local Hispanic community to try and identify Morin’s suspected killer. The community was canvased to spread the word about Morin's murder, and a video update from the sheriff's office had both English and Spanish subtitles. But so far, no suspect has been found.
“Initially the family was very hopeful,” Randolph Rice, managing partner of the law firm, said in a news release to Patch earlier this month. “Unfortunately, the trail has gone a bit cold because they have not been able to put a name to that DNA or to the video itself.”

"The longer it goes, the dimmer it seems" to get justice, Patty Morin told WBAL TV in an exclusive interview in late October.
Patty Morin has spoken only briefly with the media since her daughter's death, but chose to speak up as time continues to pass from the day when Rachel's body was found along the trail they often walked as a family.
"We're so connected that it physically hurts us that she's not here," Patty Morin said in the interview. "I know it's a fact, but I can't accept it yet."
Her daughter worked hard cleaning houses in order to provide care for her children: Rebekah, Nathan, Michael, Rachel, John and Josiah, Patty said. The younger kids have since been split up and are living separately with relatives.
A reward of $30,000 has been offered to anyone who can positively identify the killer and provide information leading to his capture and conviction.

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said he believes the suspect could be a serial killer.
"My concern is that this killer is escalating. My investigators and I both firmly believe that if we do not apprehend this individual, he will again, if he has not done so already. And, if given the chance, he certainly could become a serial killer," Gahler said. "Until he is in custody, this suspect poses a threat to every community in our country and maybe outside," he said.
