Murder Charge Filed in Silver Spring Man's Death

A relative reportedly called 911 after finding the victim in his house with trauma.

A Silver Spring man has been charged with first-degree murder after investigators tied a bloody palm-print at the scene to the suspect.

Oscar Uriel Navarro, 36, of the 14000 block of King Lear Court in Silver Spring, was found dead in a residence on Dec. 23. He had trauma to his upper body.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division on Dec. 28 arrested Mauricio Morales-Caceres, 22, of the Bel Pre area. He was arrested about 11:30 a.m. in the 14100 block of Grand Pre Road and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond, police say

An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore ruled Navarro’s death was a homicide as a result of sharp force injuries.

Forensic evidence was collected from the homicide scene and police say a bloody palmprint was identified as belonging to Morales-Caceres. Investigators learned that Morales-Caceres and Navarro knew each other socially.
