'I Don't Feel Safe': Murdered Mom Told Family

The night before a Fort Meade soldier and young mother was gunned down in her home, she reportedly made panicked phone calls to her sister and mother in Texas, says a daytime TV show.

The new details about the hours before the murder of Karlyn Serane Ramirez, 24, who was found shot to death in her Severn home Aug. 25, 2015, were shared in interviews that aired recently on “Crime Watch Daily.” Ramirez died of multiple gunshot wounds; her then 5-month-old daughter, Kattaleya Vale Kearny, was found unharmed beside her. >>> Read more.

Person Killed 13 Bald Eagles; $25K Reward Offered

Human action appears to be responsible for the deaths of 13 bald eagles on Maryland’s Eastern Shore – the state’s largest die-off of the protected birds in 30 years, authorities say.

Federal investigators are focused on human causes and bringing to justice whoever is responsible for the death of the eagles. “We cannot release further details about the cause of death as such information may compromise the ongoing investigation,” the federal agency said in its statement. >>> Read more.

Hitler’s Copy of Mein Kampf Goes to Auction

Adolf Hitler's personal copy of Mein Kampf will be auctioned off this month in Cecil County.

Alexander Historical Auctions in Chesapeake City is selling the rare book, signed by 11 soldiers who discovered it when raiding the dictator's Munich apartment on May 2, 1945. The work was kept by a soldier's daughter until August 2015, according to the auctioneer. >>> Read more.

Dancing Deputy Spreads Cheer Near Bel Air Auto Auction

One Harford County deputy incorporated some special techniques into his traffic detail this week, to the delight of citizens on the road and online.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office shared video of Sgt. Shawn Craig on Facebook strutting his dance moves on Belair Road this week, and nearly 4,000 people have liked it in less than 24 hours.

Hijacked Church Van Used in Fatal DC Shooting: Police

A stolen Prince George’s County church van was taken on a joyride by suspects who reportedly shot three people – one fatally -- at a Washington, D.C., bus stop, officials said.

The vehicle used by the shooting suspects was found Sunday night and is owned by Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, police said. Several people have keys to the van, said church officials, who didn’t realize the vehicle was missing. >>> Read more.
