Dangerous Heat Prompts County to Open Cooling Centers

Residents can escape the heat at the county's seven senior activity centers, as well as libraries and some police stations.

With a heat advisory in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will open the seven senior activity centers in the county as cooling centers.

Police station community rooms will also be open for respite, as are area libraries.

Transportation will be provided for those wishing to use these facilities. Children must be supervised by a family member or guardian at all times.
