Officers said while they were talking with the victim on Central Avenue, the Jetta approached from the westbound lane. Officers signaled for the Jetta to stop, but the car accelerated and nearly hit one of the officers, according to a release.

At that point, officers put on their lights and pursued the Jetta, which turned onto Collison Road (also in Beverley Beach). The passenger of the car jumped out and fled on foot. Police found the passenger and took him into custody after a brief chase.
