30 Vehicles Stolen In Montgomery, 3 Men Charged In Thefts: PD

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Three Washington, D.C. men have been charged with stealing approximately 30 vehicles and committing about 100 thefts from vehicles in Montgomery County, according to police.

Authorities say Khristian Markeel Champ, 20, Alaunte Scott, 18, and Christopher Taylor, 19, stole people's vehicles and personal property between May and August. A fourth man — Duan Jones, 20 — was also arrested in connection with the thefts, but was only charged with stealing items from the vehicles.

Montgomery County police worked with D.C. police to locate multiple vehicles in the District that had been reported stolen from Montgomery County. Police say they identified the four suspects and determined they were working together.

Champ was arrested on Sept. 30 and charged with auto theft and theft from vehicle-related offenses. Police said he was released after posting a $7,500 bond.

A district court summons was issued for Scott on Sept. 27, charging him with auto theft and theft from vehicle-related offenses. Police have not released Scott's mugshot yet.

On Oct. 1, Taylor was arrested and charged with auto theft and theft from vehicle-related offenses. Police said he was released after posting a $7,500 bond.

Jones was charged with theft from vehicle-related offenses on Sept. 18. Police said he was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
