The cold overnight is expected to be brutal, with a high of 20 degrees, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service. Several jurisdictions have issued alerts to let people know they should stay inside. So far, 33 people have died in Maryland from cold-related illnesses this winter, according to the Maryland Department of Health. Twelve of the deaths occurred in the week that ended Jan. 22, officials said.
