Frugal Family: Five Deals to Stretch the Family Budget

Welcome back to our weekly rundown of five local deals to help with your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting, we save you time as well as money.

This week we scoured our local sources and found food savings on carryout for the family, kid's meals, and buy-one-get-one free grocery savings. We also found a deal to help reduce stress (and aid a charity at the same time); and continue to welcome the season with savings on spring fashions. Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions, if any:

1. Carryout Discount:  Middle Eastern Cuisine, 7006 Carroll Avenue, 301-270-5154.

Deal:  Get 10 percent off when ordering carry-out meals of $20 or more.  (Also check out market and dessert items in refrigerated case and on shelves).

Deal: Feed the kids for $1.00 on Tuesdays - Get up to two kid's meals (from the kid's menu) for $1.00 each, with the purchase of one adult entree.

Good through:  Kid's meal special ongoing on Tuesdays.

Deal:  Save 10 percent on your purchase, with their Internet Special coupon.

Good through: Ongoing.

5. Buy-one-get-one-free Grocery Savings: Giant Food, 8750 Arliss Street, Silver Spring, 301-587-3450 (and other locations).

Deal:  This week's grocery specials include Yukon Gold Potatoes, buy one get one free (five pound bag) or onions (three pound bag). Add a few of this week's "10 for $10," items, including Giant canned tomatoes, steam-ready frozen vegetables Bumblebee tuna; or Purdue chicken leg quarters at 99 cent per pound, for a week's worth of big savings on meals.
