BRAINTREE, MA — The 2019 Braintree election will change town leadership arguably the most it has since the town switched from a representative town meeting to a mayor-council system of government in 2008. With Mayor Joseph Sullivan not seeking re-election, the town will elect its second ever mayor. But that's not the only race voters will decide on Nov. 5, as eight of Town Council's nine seats will be contested, and five of those races are for open seats.

Races for School Committee, Electric Light Board, Housing Authority, and Library Trustee will not be contested.

To help you prepare for Election Day, Patch has put together a voting guide to help you pick candidates and find your nearest polling location — plus other pertinent election information.
